We are delighted to have once again contributed towards the continued success of the Chichester half marathon organised by local charity Children on the Edge.
This year’s event, as with other years was a run-away success with over 700 participants crossing the start line, raising plenty of money for Children on the Edge and their important work around the world.
Despite stiff competition from fellow Chichester runner, Mike Houston, who set a new course PB, six times winner James Baker made it seven from seven when he completed the race on Sunday 7th October. Whilst holding the records for being the only ever winner and the fastest course time, overnight rain and strong head winds on the Trundle, meant James finished around 100 seconds behind his previous best. But not even this has diluted James’ appetite for the race vowing to cement his position as the only ever winner and aim for 10 out of 10.
You can see an interview with James Baker on the Chichester Observer website here.
The event, which is one off the biggest fund raisers for our neighbours in The Victoria, Children on the Edge, has become a regular fixture in the running competition calendar and is increasingly popular with local and regional running clubs.
We are pleased to provide financial support for the cost of the prizes so that all the money raised by the entrants can be focused on vital projects helping children, rather than covering the administrative cost of the event.
Our congratulations go to all the runners that completed the grueling course and we look forward to being part of the event again as James goes for number 8 in 2019.
